Champion Wang Ye!

China's Wang Ye won a quickfire turbo on the final night of Triton Jeju, earning the first title of his career and $256,000. With the tournament series winding down, the last tournament on the schedule attracted 23 entries, pretty much all of whom were superstars trying for silverware for one last time on the trip.

But they were all outdone by Wang, a player whose two years of excellent work on the Triton Poker Series have yielded him more than $11 million in prize money but, before tonight, no title.

Wang was not to be denied this time, however, building the biggest stack when they got into the money with five left, and then defeating Kiat Lee heads-up at the end. Lee had just bubbled the $150K 10th Anniversary Special before hopping in this, and took $176,000 for second.

But Wang now has the title that his talents richly deserve, and he can now start building towards more when the series reconvenes in Northern Cyprus in November.

Artur Martirosian burst the bubble when his 15 blinds went into the stack of Matthias Eibinger, whose pocket sevens held up against Eibinger's A4. That put the last five into the money with the following stacks:

Wang Ye - 1,805,000 (72 BBs)

Kiat Lee - 610,000 (24 BBs)

Ben Tollerene - 255,000 (10 BBs)

Punnat Punsri - 185,000 (7 BBs)

Almost immediately after the resumption of five-handed proceedings, with everyone now in the money, Ben Tollerene headed out. He had dipped to the tournament short stack after having to fold his big blind, and then got involved in a three-way all-in. And although Tollerene's AK was better than both Eibinger's K and Punsri's , Punsri turned a flush.

It was a virtual triple up for the Thai player, and left Tollerene out with $65,000 for fifth.

Despite the hand that knocked out Tollerene, Punsri still had the fewest chips. ABut he then hopped on a typical turbo rollercoaster, doubling through Eibinger, but them shipping heaps to Lee. And then, after a couple of orbits treading water, he bust to Wang Ye. Punsri's K4 went down to Wang's J for nine blinds.

Punsri's fourth place earned him $81,000.

Very quickly thereafter, the field was down to its final two as Ye knocked out Eibinger. The Austrian turbo whiz three-bet jammed 18 linds over Wang's button open, but Wang's A3 held against .

They were now heads up with Wang holding 65 blinds and Lee sitting with 27. Lee had already overturned a big heads-up deficit once at this event to win the Mystery Bounty tournament, and he'd need to do so again to land a fifth career win. Wang, on the other hand, has two runner up finishes to his name on the Triton Poker Series, but had never closed it out.

But that ended tonight.

After a short period of this-way-and-that jousting, everything came down to another cooler. Lee picked up 84 in the small blind and raised. Wang defended with J.

Things didn't really get explosive until the full board of J710 was on the table, by which point this was a straight against a boat.

The boat, in Wang's hands, meant the tournament was over. He's a Triton champion at last.
